JEFFERSON - Clarence W. "Sonny" Irons, Jr., age 72, long time Jefferson resident, 
died Thursday evening, March 20, 2008, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center, following 
complications of cancer. 

 Born April 15, 1935, in Ashtabula Twp., he was the son of Clarence W. and Isabelle 
(Mook) Irons. He has lived in Ashtabula County, most of his life, being raised in 
Austinburg Twp. 

 He was a Veteran of the U. S. National Guard. He was an employee of the Ashtabula 
Telephone Co., for 20 year, taking disability retirement in 1984. 

 Sonny was a member of the Jefferson Conservation Club, a scout leader for the Boy 
Scouts of America for several years, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

 Survivors include three children, William C. (Michelle) Irons of Rock Creek, Julie A. 
(James) Mattwig of Ft. Benning, Ga., and Joy (Don) Patterson of Lewisburg, Tenn.; 
nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Shirley Irons of Jefferson, Inna Stevens of 
Cowan, Tenn., and Patty Dobson of Winchester, Tenn. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Anna Mason and Ellen 
Webster. 

 Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the 
Saybrook Cemetery, St. Rt. 45, Saybrook Twp., with the Rev. Gordon Emerson, interim 
pastor at the Second Congregational Church, officiating. 

 Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Jefferson Home of the 
FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio.
