Gale David D'Avignon, 74, passed away at his residence on October 19, 2012 after a 
long battle with cancer. Born on December 8, 1937 he was the son of Claude and 
Coline Austin D'Avignon. Gale grew up in Schenectady and attended Draper School. 
He retired from Campbell Plastics. Gale enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, motorcycle 
riding and living on the river in Stillwater. Gale was an active member of the Stillwater 
Rod and Gun Club, The Elks Club and was very proud of being a member and a 
motorcycle escort for fallen soldiers with the American Legion. He was an avid 
woodworker and loved to cook. Gale enjoyed family get-togethers and he and Joan 
hosted several family reunions at their waterside pavilion in Stillwater. Gale was 
known and will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his many 
colorful stories. Gale is survived by his loving wife Joan Grice D'Avignon of Stillwater; 
children, James D'Avignon (Ellen) of Clifton Park, William Grice of Los Angeles, 
Elizabeth Wagar (Sam) of Niskayuna, Douglas Grice (MaryAnne) of Niskayuna and 
Susan Tuttle of Colonie; 10 grand children, Austin D'Avignon (Nicole) serving in the 
military in Alaska, Samantha and Nathaniel Wagar, Dale Tuttle, Erin and Luke Grice, 
Sidney D'Avignon, Jordan Young, David Moshier and Justin McClure; 2 great grand 
children, Olivia and Emma D'Avignon; his loving sister Claudette (Michael) Koza of 
Edinburg, niece Kim (David Lilac) Koza, their daughters Jessica Hohenstein and Emily 
Lilac, nephew Kenneth (Cecelia) Koza and their children Lilia and Maxwell; brother-in-
law Armand DeCarlo of Schenectady. Gale was also predeceased by his first wife 
Barbara D'Avignon in 1999. Funeral services for Gale will be held on Monday October 
22, 2012 at 1pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. 
Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11am-1pm at the funeral home. 
Interment with military honors will follow at Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
