Chuck was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on Dec. 14, 1926 and passed away Sept. 20, 
2013 at the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. He leaves his wife, companion and 
best friend for 52 years, Jean; his sister, Marilyn; and three children, Dan (Debby), 
Georgia and Richard (Terry). A son, Jim, preceded him in death. He has five 
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was also dad to Jean's children, Lee 
Anne (Otis), Sandy (Michelle), Megan (Jeff), Amy (Bruce) and their 11 children.

Chuck was a WWII veteran and served in the South Pacific. He was an electrical 
contractor for 58 years. When he got bored, which was often, he delved into other 
ventures including Elsinor Raceway in Elsinor, Calif. He and his friend built and 
operated the track for several years. Then he bought a motel in Quincy, then a motel 
in Indio, Calif. and finally settled on a tow service and garage in Doyle when he lived 
with Jean for 31 years.

He raced flat track motorcycles through the 1950s and went to off-road cars in the 
1960s. He was a champion in both venues. He counted among his friends and 
competitors, Steve McQueen, James Garner and Bob Bondurant. He raced 
experimental cars for Hickey Enterprises in Ventura, Calif.

Chuck and Jean traveled the world together. He had to leave her behind when he 
went to work in Saudi Arabia, but missed his family and came home within a year. 
When they wanted him back, he said, "No thanks. If I can't bring Jean, I'm staying 
home!"

He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association and VFW. He was also 
a member of the BPOE in Susanville for 39 years, Building Contractors Association, 
International Desert Racing Association, National Off-Road Racing Association, the 
I.B.E.W. and American Legion.

Chuck was larger than life and will be missed by his large, extended family and friends.
