obit of Francis Marion Bennett
Mae Bennett, 87, long time Newport Township resident, died on Sunday, June 2, 2002 
in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
 She was born June 2, 1915 in Bristol, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Alvin and 
Maude (nee Smith) Marsh. She graduated from the Woodworth Grade School in Bristol 
and Kenosha High School. For two years she studied nursing at Methodist Hospital in 
Madison, Wisconsin and on December 28, 1937 she married Francis "Ted" Bennett in 
Bristol. She was an active member of North Prairie United Methodist Church and the 
and the Interfaith Chaplaincy Service. For 18 years she and her husband spent winters 
in Englewood, Florida.
 Surviving are her son James (Kathleen) Bennett of Burlington, Wisconsin; her 
daughter Carol (Eugene) McGuire of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; six grandsons Andrew 
McGuire, Christopher (Juli) McGuire, James (Shelley) Bennett Jr., Jeffrey (Evie) 
Bennett, Roger (Jeannie) Bennett and Keith (Shari) Bennett; six great-grandchildren; 
and three step-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband 
Francis "Ted" Bennett, a brother Eugene Marsh and two sisters Mildred Foulke and 
Ruby Bennett.
 Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Congdon 
Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Rev. Paul Foulke, Mae's nephew from 
Lowell, Wisconsin and Pastor Gary Hougen of North Prairie United Methodist Church 
officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Newport Township. Visitation wil 
be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, 
the family requests that memorials be made to the North Prairie United Methodist 
Church. Family and friends attending the visitation and funeral are asked not to wear 
perfume and cologne.
