DIXON - Marjorie W. Bennett, 92, of Dixon died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Heritage 
Square. Born Oct. 17, 1906, in Belvidere, the daughter of Clarence H. and Mame A. 
(Hicks) Woods. Married Gordon Bennett in Belvidere on March 30, 1929 he died Aug. 
2, 1972. She graduated from Belvidere High School and attended Lake Forest 
College. Employed as a secretary or bookkeeper at a number of firms including Illinois 
Northern Utilities Co., City National Bank and Medusa Cement Co. Member of St. 
Luke's Episcopal Church, serving as chairwoman of Episcopal Church Women, 
Rockford Deanery. She was a 50-year member of PEO Sisterhood and Regent of 
Daughters of the American Revolution Dixon Chapter. Member of National Society of 
Mayflower Descendants, Phidian Art Club and a 70-year member of the Eastern Star. 
She also served on St. Peter Church's restoration committee in Grand Detour. 
Survivors include son, Gordon R. (Christa) Bennett Jr. of Winchester, Mass. daughter, 
Joan (Roger) Kelly of Dixon five grandchildren seven great-grandchildren brother, 
Donald R. (Patricia) Woods of Anacortes, Wash. and several nieces and nephews. 
Also predeceased by brother, Clarence Woods. 

 Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, in St. Peters Episcopal Church, 
Grand Detour, with the Rev. Donald Castle, pastor of Calvary Episcopal Church, 
Lombard, officiating. No visitation. Rites of cremation accorded. Burial will be private. 
Memorial established for St. Peters Episcopal Church, Grand Detour. Arrangements by 
Preston-Schilling Funeral Home Ltd., 213 Crawford Ave. 8-12-2
