Police Id Drowned Man

FORT LAUDERDALE -- Police have identified the man who accidentally drowned in a 
canal on Sunday as Evert Maule Williams, 53, of the 2800 block of Northeast 26th 
Place.

Williams` body was found in the water next to the dock in back of his house about 
midnight, police said. He had been drinking on his porch until about 15 minutes before 
his body was found by family members and a neighbor.

Investigators said Williams may have hit his head on a boat when he fell into the 
canal.
