Robert Lanka, a retired Bay Area CPA, died Aug. 14 at Scripps Hospital in LaJolla 
following complications from heart surgery. He was 86. 

The native of Santa Monica served as an officer, director and president of the 
California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was on the advisory board for 
the Journal of Accountancy. He was a former member of the San Francisco 
Commercial Club and the California Golf Club. 

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Lanka; sons, Alan Lanka of Lafayette and 
Stanley Lanka; sister, Caryn Lanka; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 
His first wife, Margaret Maule Lanka, preceded him in death in 1974.
