*Vernon Alvin Nichols of Starke died Thursday at his residence after an extended 
illness. He was 92. 

 Mr. Nichols was born in Oregon and moved to Starke from Jacksonville in 1947. He 
was a retired supervisor for Dupont, was a member of BPOE of Starke, and attended 
the First Baptist Church of Starke. 

 He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. 

 Survivors include a daughter, Janet Espenship of Gainesville; a grandson; and one 
great-grandson.
