Idaho Press-Tribune (Nampa, ID) — Sunday, February 26, 2012
Glena "Lee" Nichols, May 31, 1928 - February 15, 2012 College Place Resident,
Glena "Lee" Nichols, passed away February 15, 2012.

There will be a memorial service in Boise, Idaho, at a later date. Internment will be in
the Cloverdale Cemetery in Boise. Local arrangements have been entrusted to
Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington.

Lee was born May 31, 1928, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Daniel Brigham and Frances
Hellena Richards. The family moved several times until settling in Nampa, Idaho,
where Lee attended school. Lee worked in the early years of World War II as a weld
inspector at Gate City Steel. She met the love of her life and husband of almost 60
years, Gerald "Gus" Nichols, in Nampa. They were married January 16, 1946, and
moved to Meridian, Idaho.

She was a bookkeeper for Gus's blacksmith shop and ran a daycare from their home.
They moved to Star, Idaho, where Gus ran a blacksmith shop and Lee worked as a
Candler in an egg packing plant. Later they moved to Gooding, where they had a dairy
farm and blacksmith shop. Lee was a good shot, an excellent cook, seamstress,
gardener and farm hand. She loved to sew and was very handy. They bought houses
and fixed them up and sold them with Lee doing the painting, carpeting and all kinds
of remodeling. They retired in Garden Valley in the Idaho mountains, where they had
spent many weekends camping, fishing and hunting. After living in different places in
Idaho, Lee returned to College Place after Gus passed away in 2005. Lee was a
cherished daughter, sister and aunt. She was a loving mother, grandmother and
funloving friend.

Lee is survived by two daughters and sons-inlaw : Jerry and Cliff Farm of Hemet,
California, and Sara and David Bassford of Bellevue, Washington; two sons and
daughters-in-law : Cash and Cindy Nichols of College Place, Washington, and Jeff and
Dawn Nichols of Waitsburg, Washington; grandchildren: Christopher and Stephanie
Rumley, Phillip and Celia Rumley, Danielle and Charles Leyva, Chris Farm, Cassie
Farm, Paul Farm, Jason Farm, Nathan Nichols, Cody Nichols, Jennifer Stryker, Sam
Bassford and Katie Bassford, Ashley and Trevor Johnson, Jeremy and Lacy Nichols,
and Jennifer Nichols; and two sisters-inlaw : Reva Richards and Donnie Griffiths. Lee
loved her 13 great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy. She was preceded
in death by her brother, Coey Richards, and her sister, Dian Frank.
