James R. Lorraine, 84, of College St., passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 
his home with his family by his side. 

He was born in Utica on April 27, 1923, a son of Charles and Helen Kuhn Lorraine. Jim 
graduated from the New Hartford schools and attended RIT. He joined the US Navy 
and after studies at Purdue, served his country in the South Pacific during WW II. On 
September 4, 1945, in Clinton, he married Betty Nichols. Mrs. Lorraine died February 
6, 1995. Jim operated Nichols Garage for 35 years, where he was an Oldsmobile 
dealer. He was a charter and life member of the VFW Post 9591 and a member of the 
American Legion Post 232. Jim attended St. Mary's Church, was the oldest full member 
of the Skenandoa Club and was a 25 year member of the Clinton Fire Dept Hose Co. 
He was the 3rd President of the Clinton Figure Skating Club and a board member for 
the Clinton Arena and the Hockey Association. 

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Nichols and Ronald 
Frazee of Springfield, VA, and Barbara Jane and Phillip McKnight of Clinton; his son, 
Ret. Lt. Col James R. Lorraine, Jr., and his wife, Becky, of Valrico, FL; three 
grandchildren, Bradley Frazee, Nathan Frazee and his wife, Christine, and Murphy 
James Lorraine and his mother, Katherine McDonough; two great-grandchildren, Aaron 
and Nicholas Frazee; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Virginia Lorraine of 
New Hartford, Don and Paula Lorraine of Norwich Corners, and Ralph and Nancy 
Lorraine of Marcy; sister-in-law, Lillian Lorraine of Deerfield, FL; and several nieces 
and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Richard. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007, at St. 
Mary's Church, Clinton. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, New Hartford. 
Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. at Owens-Pavlot Funeral Service, 
Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. VFW Post 9591 and American Legion Post 232 will hold 
combined services Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. 

The family thanks their special family friend, Kyle Crane, and Navaz, Nadine and the 
volunteers of Hospice for the wonderful care given to Jim.
