William R. Chaffee, MD, of Marlborough, MA, formerly of Auburn, NY, died on
October 14, 2013, of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. After medical school, Bill 
started a private practice in Orange, CT, before returning to upstate NY to serve on 
the faculty of SUNY Upstate and the Syracuse VA. For 35 years he practiced in 
Auburn, NY, with Internal Medicine Associates. He enjoyed all the water sports and 
opportunities to travel. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emily, three children 
and seven grands.
