Robert McIlvane Dies, Hartsdale Newspaperman
Robert Mcllvane, publisher of the Hartsdale Times for fifteen years, died on Thursday
night of last week at his home following an attack of acute indigestion. He was sixty-
eight. Masonic funeral services were held Sunday night in the Edwards’ Funeral
Home, Dobbs Ferry, by Diamond Lodge. Burial took place Monday in the family plot in
Bucklan Cemetery, Buckland, Connecticut. Mr. Mcllvane was born in Airdree,
Scotland, but he came to the United States at the age of eighteen. For a number of
years he lived in Manchester, Connecticut. He later moved to New York and worked
with the New York World. In 1926 he established the Hartsdale Times. At the time of
his death he was president of the Hartsdale Chamber of Commerce and was a member
of Diamond Lodge, F. and A. M. of Dobbs Ferry. He was owner and publisher of the
Hartsdale Times and the Elmsford Herald, and a member of the Hartsdale Citizens
Union and the Hartsdale Republican Club. He was formerly a member of the Hartsdale
Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving are his wife and their son, Arthur: and four children
by a former marriage, Robert L., Irene, Well and Margerie
