BICKNELL. Mildred C. Bicknell, 88, of 859 Westford Rd., Ashford, died Sunday (Oct. 
2, 1994) at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was born in West Hartford, educated in 
the local schools, and graduated from West Hartford High School, coming to Ashford 
in 1940. She was a retired Postmistress at the Ashford Post Office for five years, and 
was affiliated with the Junior Republic of Litchfield County for over 20 years. Mildred 
is survived by a brother, Charles Chaffee of Sutton, Vt.; three nieces, Jeannette Smith 
of Arendtsville, Pa., Linda Perman of Fort Collins, Colo., Elaine Sullivan of Stafford 
Springs; a nephew, Norman Chaffee of Nashville, Tenn.; also several nieces and 
nephews in the Ashford area. Her husband, Morris Bicknell died October , 1988. There 
will be a graveside service Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the Westford Hill Cemetery. Calling 
hours at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, will be 
Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Ashford Volunte er Fire 
Department, Ashford 06278.
