Catherine Greene Howell, age 92 of Manistee died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at her 
home. 

 She was born on April 10, 1917 in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of the late Rolland 
and Ruth Stewart (Reynolds) Greene. She was a 1935 graduate of Evanston High 
School in Illinois and attended DePaw University from 1935 to 1937. She married 
Raymond Charles Howell on Oct. 10, 1938 at Saint Matthews Episcopal Church in 
Evanston. 

 Raymond preceded her in death in August of l984. 

 Wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend, Catherine was the "Hostess 
with the Mostest." She was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in 
Manistee, the Holy Trinity Altar Guild, P. E. O., Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Manistee 
HOWELL Golf & Country Club, and Manistee Art Institute. She enjoyed bridge, golf, 
reading, (Smithsonian) cooking, recipe collecting, her church activities and bible 
study, hospice volunteer, humane society, and entertaining friends. 

 Survivors include her daughters Becky (John K.) Knapek, Catherine (Cate) Howell, 
and Patricia Bay; grandchildren Kimberly (Lee) Petit, Julie (Chris) Conway, Deborah 
(Mike) Dye, Jennifer (Randy) Gruenwald, Justin (Kelly) Bay, Ryan Bay, Chad (Paula) 
Knapek, Raymond (Dawn) Knapek, and Catherine (Jeremy) Roller; and 16 great-
grandchildren. 

 Memorial Services for Catherine Howell will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at 3 p.m. 
at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee with Father Michael Bell officiating. 

 Memorials in her name may be directed to the Manistee County Humane Society or 
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. 

 The family has entrusted the Oak Grove Cremation Center with funeral arrangements.
