NORFOLK - Leslie W. Jordan, 79, went to be with his Lord July 13, 2007. Born Aug.
19, 1927, to the late Rixie and Bessie Grubbs Jordan, he married Jean L. Coates Dec.
3, 1949.
He was a member and faithful servant of the Lord for 47 years at Calvary Baptist
Church, serving as deacon, head usher and chairman of visitation. Leslie also served
his country retiring after 30 years in the U.S. Navy. He loved gardening, helping
others and volunteering with the nursing home ministry.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Jean; son, David W. Jordan of Norfolk;
daughter, Sandra R. Jordan of Norfolk; and a brother, Robert W. Jordan and his wife
Anne of Smithfield, N.C.
A celebration of Leslie's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn Funeral
Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., with Pastor Richard E. Smith officiating.
Interment will be private in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive
friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in
lieu of flowers to Calvary Baptist Church, 3301 Thomas St., Norfolk, VA 23513. Online
