Daniel O. Hastings 3d, 54, an executive with Ford of Germany, died of meningitis 
yesterday in Cologne, West Germany, where he lived. 

Raised in Wilmington, he was a graduate of the Hill School and Hamilton College. He 
worked for SmithKline in the 1950s before joining Ford. He had been assigned to the 
Cologne office for 20 years. 

He is survived by his mother, Louise B. Hastings, and a brother, David. 

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brandywine Presbyterian 
Church, Route 52, Centerville, Del.
