Pauline Pahl Lewis died peacefully in her sleep June 4, 2012 at Stella Maris in 
Baltimore, Maryland, at the tender age of 99. 

 She was born in Orville, Ohio on November 14, 1912 to Jerome and Emma Pahl. The 
Pahl's, with their six children (Wishie, John, Jean, Gertrude, Pauline, and Joe), moved 
to Akron when Jerome became custodian of St. Mary's church and school. Pauline 
was the last surviving child of the Pahl's. After graduating from St. Mary's High School 
she went to work in the alterations department of Polsky's Department Store where 
she developed her lifelong love of sewing. On a double date with her sister Gertrude, 
she met her future husband and soul mate, J. Albert Lewis who was a salesman with 
Nabisco. They were married 57 years and raised three sons and a daughter. Al's 
promotions carried the family all over the east, from Akron to Uniontown, 
Pennsylvania, Boston, Mass., Philadelphia, Pa., Louisville, Ky., and ending up in 
Baltimore, Md. Moving from town to town, Pauline developed her amazing skills as a 
cook and gardener. She and Al retired to Ormond Beach, Fla. in 1972 where she 
developed a love of fishing. Their home was the site of many wonderful vacations with 
their children and grandchildren. Pauline moved back to Baltimore to be close to her 
children when Al was in the last stages of Alzheimer's disease. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband and her sons, Thomas Pahl and Donald 
Albert. Pauline leaves behind, her son, John, his wife, Mary Lou and their three sons, 
and her daughter, Paula Scheye and her husband Thomas. Her love of life is carried 
on in her grandchildren, Thomas Lewis, Clare Winters, Michael, John, Curtis Lewis, 
and Nora Lewis-Borbely and great-grandmother of Benjamin, Rachel, Christopher, 
Jessica, Daniel, Albert, and Eleanor and great-great-grandmother of Madison and 
Remy; along with many nephews and nieces still residing in Ohio. 

 Donations in her memory can be made to St. Mary's school in Akron, or Stella Maris, 
2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093. A memorial service will be held in 
Akron in November, 2012 in honor of the 100th anniversary of her birth. Details will be
