Whisler, Thomas Clifford
 88, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on September 19, 2009. Tom was born March 1, 
1921 in Redondo Beach, CA to Thomas Clifford and Katherine O'Connell Whisler. He 
served in the Navy in World War II on the battleship USS Massachusetts as a Fire 
Control Officer. Tom and Doris L. Boyer met at Christmastime 1945 and married on 
June 26, 1946. Tom earned a BS in Economics from UC Berkeley in 1948. Tom's 
career in mining equipment sales took him to mines throughout the western U.S. Tom 
was initiated into the Ancient and Accepted Fraternity of Freemasonry in October 
1950, was a member of the Scottish Rite, and was coronated with the 33rd Degree 
Inspector General Honorary on October 27, 1997. Tom is survived by his beloved wife 
of 63 years Doris; son Tom Whisler (Carol), grandson Joe Whisler, granddaughter 
Samantha Louchios (Walter), and great grandson Jack Louchios; daughter Laurel 
Whisler; and son Dan Whisler, grandson Rob Whisler (Danielle), granddaughter 
Rhiannon Whisler (Darryl Coady), and great grandson Colton Coady. Services will be 
held at 1 p.m. Saturday September 26 at Orangewood Presbyterian Church, 7321 N. 
10th St., Phoenix, AZ 85020. A short reception at the church will follow. In lieu of 
flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Phoenix Scottish Rite 
Foundation, P.O. Box 26730, Phoenix, AZ 85068, which funds the Arizona Literacy & 
Learning Center, providing programs and resources for children with learning and
