COLLIGNON, JAMES L. 

 age 88 of Knoxville passed away Tuesday Sept. 15, 2009 at Parkwest Medical Center 
following a brief illness He was born and raised in Trenton, IL and attended 
Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. 
He had worked for Russell-Axon, St Louis Architects & Engineers for the construction 
of the USAF Basic Flying School in MO from 1941-1943. He served in the U.S. Army 
Air Corps from 1943 -1946. The owner and operator of Cherry Street Block Co for 30 
years. He retired in 1974. A member of Fountain City United Methodist Church from 
1946 -1954, a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church from 1954 to 1974 where he 
served as a Deacon and was presently a member of First Presbyterian Church in 
Pompano Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by first wife, Geneva Atchley 
Collignon to whom he was married for 49 years; and second wife, Irene America 
Sherrod Collignon; and brother, Robert Collignon. Survived by daughter and son-in-
law, Jan and Donald Sutte; son and daughter-in-law, James O. (Joc) and Margaret 
Collignon; grandson, James O. (Joc) Collignon Jr.; and loving caregiver, Earbie Isbel. 
The Family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway 
Chapel. Funeral service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Sean White officiating. Interment will 
be private. Honorary pallbearers: Robert Collignon, Tom Jones, George McAfee, Tim 
Kalthoff, Greg Smith, Tom Dillon, Frank Koboski and Harry Sherrod. In lieu of flowers 
the family requests memorials be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center 1515 
Holcombe Blvd. Houston, TX 77030. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway
