Obituary: 
RICHMOND, Ind. – Roland Walter Jellison, age 85, of Richmond, died Wednesday, 
December 29, 2010, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born January 5, 1925, in 
Richmond to Walter Maine and Echo Roland Jellison, he was a lifelong resident of this 
area. Roland was a graduate of Tri State University where he earned his degree as an 
electrical engineer. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II and 
Korea. Roland worked at AVCO in the Ordinance Division as an electrical engineer for 
many years, was manager of Jellison Electric and retired as general manager at REMC. 
He was a 50-year member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge and Indianapolis Valley 
Scottish Rite. He was a member of American Legion and Kiwanis Club. Roland enjoyed 
woodworking, traveling, gardening and working outside. Survivors include his wife of 
61 years, Carolyn L. Gay Jellison; children, Dan Jellison and his wife Amy of 
Richmond, Sarah Withrow and her husband Sam of Richmond, Susan Hall and her 
husband Steve of Florida, and Peter Jellison and his wife Jo of Alabama; 
grandchildren, Lauren, Leah and Janna Jellison, Aaron Withrow and his wife Brittany, 
Hannah Withrow, Ben, Matthew, and Elisabeth Hall, and Joshua and Jeremy Jellison, 
and Jessica Porter and her husband Jason; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Cole 
Porter; nephews, Burt and Gary Jellison; and many friends, including the “Monday 
Morning Breakfast Club.” He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John 
Jellison. Visitation for Roland Walter Jellison will be from 12 to 1:00 p.m. Friday, 
December 31, 2010, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, 
Richmond. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Doan & Mills. Burial will be in 
Earlham Cemetery with military honors by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Memorials 
may be made to: Reid Hospital Foundation, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374.
