DAMRON, Carolyn McCaine
Carolyn McCaine Damron passed away at Lakeway Regional Medical Center on 
January 20, 2016 after suffering catastrophic complications of rheumatoid arthritis. 
She was born on May 24, 1951 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Bellaire High 
School in 1969 and Texas Tech University in 1973. She would later go on to earn her 
MBA from University of Texas in 1978. She married the love of her life, Bob Norman 
Damron, on June 5, 1976 in Houston, Texas. Carolyn worked for Texas Commerce 
Bank, making lifelong friends there from 1979-1989. She would then spend the rest of 
her career with the Travis County Auditor Financial Services Division until her 
retirement in 2012. Above all, Carolyn loved her family and spending time with her 
closest friends. She loved traveling with her daughter, Allison Clare. Carolyn was 
never as proud as when her son, Zachary James, graduated from the United States 
Army School of Aviation. She recently became a self-described "wine-snob" and loved 
learning about and trying new wine. One of her favorite trips of her life was visiting 
Napa Valley with her husband. She spent many afternoons and evenings with her best 
friends enjoying delicious meals and laughing. Carolyn loved watching college football 
every weekend with her husband, and rooting for her favorite teams. Carolyn was 
selfless, loving, practical, an amazing cook, and valued her family above all else. One 
of her greatest dreams was to help her daughter with her wedding, and one day 
become a grandmother. It is her children's hope that they will honor everything their 
mother wanted for them. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Damron; her son 
Zachary James and his wife Lauren; her daughter Allison Clare; her brother John 
McCaine and his wife Julie. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Jean 
McCaine and her brother James McCaine. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn's family would like 
donations to be made to the James S. McCaine '78 Endowed Memorial Scholarship, 
the Jean McCaine Scholarship at Rice University, or the charity of your choice .
