Robert James Roth, 76, of Midland, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, at his home 
with his loving family by his side.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1930 in Breckenridge, son of the late Norman J. and Beulah 
(Thomas) Roth. He attended Breckenridge schools, graduating from Breckenridge 
High School in 1948, having played football, basketball and baseball. He attended 
Alma College, Delta College and the University of Michigan and graduated from 
Central Michigan University in 1971 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. He 
had worked at The Dow Chemical Company from 1956-1969 and had worked as an 
account supervisor for the City of Midland in the water department, retiring in 1993. 
Since 1974, Bob had been employed in the Real Estate field, currently working as a 
realtor with Midland Executive One. He was instrumental in the building of St. John's 
Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He had 
served with the United States Air Force for four years, being honorably discharged in 
September of 1954. Bob married the former Phyllis (Letts) Holmes on December 30, 
1978 in Wheeler. He was a former member of the Breckenridge American Legion. His 
favorite pass times were circling foreclosure ads, playing bridge and golf.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis; children, Dawn Roth (Kenneth) Oakley of Houston, 
Texas, Denise Roth (Brian) Shigenaka of Santa Maria, California, Donald Holmes of 
Peoria, Arizona, Kevin Holmes of Hudson, Florida, Cynthia Holmes (Raymond) Wagner 
of New Port Richie, Florida, Dan Liddle of Peoria, Arizona and Ron McIver of Mt. 
Pleasant; grandchildren, Kerry (Paula) Bailes, Kenneth (Nancy) Oakley, Amanda 
Oakley, Kasey Shigenaka, Jennifer Shigenaka, Katie Wagner, Mindy Wagner, and 
Kristin Holmes; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Priscilla and Bill Marquiss; extended 
family, Larry, Mary Jo, Matt and Andrew Lang and Janet Lang; many beloved nieces 
and nephews and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by siblings Thomas Roth, Barbara 
Roth Youle, Richard Roth, Norman Roth and Larry Roth.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2007, from Trinity 
Lutheran Church. Pastor Kirk Havel will officiate with burial in Midland City Cemetery. 
Bob's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 
West Wheeler Street, on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Monday 
from 10 a.m. until time of service. 

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider MidMichigan 
Hospice, Alzheimer's Dementia Association, American Heart Association, or the 
American Lung Association.

The family would also like to thank Hospice and special caregivers that took care of 
Bob for the past several months, Teresa Ewing and Helen Fisher.
