Dr. Richard G. Whitney, 77, Longboat Key, died Dec. 7, 2001. He was born Nov. 22, 
1924, in Ann Arbor, Mich., and came to Longboat Key 11 years ago from there.

He was a retired dentist who graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School 
and served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.He was a member of Michigan 
State Dental Society and American Dental Society. 

Survivors included his wife, Suzanne T. Whitney; a daughter, Carol Tumbas of 
Bloomington, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Wendy Stuart of Malvern, Pa.; and four 
grandchildren.
