Deceased Name: Gene E. Rash
Gene E. Rash, age 84, of Elkton, MD, died Sunday, November 9, 2008. Born in 
Sparta, NC, on July 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Jesse C. and Mary Estep 
Rash. 

Mr. Rash retired from the Cecil County Board of Education after 21 years of service, 
and prior to that, he had been a farmer. He had attended Eastern Shore Baptist Bible 
Church, Galena, MD. Mr. Rash enjoyed bluegrass music and dancing and was a 
member of the North Bay Bluegrass Association. He also enjoyed driving charter buses 
for trips and vegetable gardening. 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Ebert Rash; children, Judy Tharp and 
companion, Bruce, Middletown, DE, Gene Rash and companion, Debbie, Sarasota, 
FL, Tom Scott and wife, Susie, Chesapeake City, MD, Carol Kresge and husband, 
Andy, Eldersburg, MD, and Sara Smith and husband, Don, Elkton, MD; siblings, 
Donald Rash, Chadds Ford, PA, Ruth Robey, North East, MD, Mary Lou Fields, Colora, 
MD, Arlie Rash, Elkton, MD, Russell Rash, Anderson, SC, and Rex Rash, Newark, DE; 
12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Rash was preceded in death by his siblings, Jesse 
Hankins and Herb Rash. 

Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Eastern Shore 
Bible Baptist Church, 13984 Gregg Neck Rd, Galena, MD, where family and friends 
may call after 3 p.m. Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eastern Shore Bible Baptist Church, in 
care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.
