PETER, age 67, on Jan. 20, 2013, of Rosemont. Son of the late Florence Mitchell 
Chance and Morton Gibbons-Neff, Jr. Beloved husband of Deborah Shafer Gibbons-
Neff of 30 years. Father of Stephanie "Stevie" (Andrew) Boulden of Radnor, PA, Polly 
(John) Ortlieb of Annapolis, MD, Lyndsey Ann of Newport, RI, and 2nd LT Peter, JR, 
USMC of Carlsbad, CA. Brother of Morton, III "Tony" (Donna), Mitchell Chance 
(deceased), and Henry Gibbons-Neff. Loving grandfather of four children and 
cherished uncle of six nieces and nephews. He will be remembered most for his love 
of family, friends, country and sailing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 
January 26, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 S. Valley 
Forge Road, Wayne, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Corinthian 
Historical Foundation, P.O. Box 366, Essington, PA 19029 or to Sea Education 
Association, P.O. Box 6, Woods Hole, MA 02543. STUARD FUNERAL HOME, Family 
owned since 1822.

Florence Mitchell Chance and Morton Gibbons-Neff, Jr. Beloved husband of Deborah

children and cherished uncle of six nieces and nephews. Born in Bryn Mawr, his early 
years were spent in Devon at Clovelly Farm. He attended The Haverford School and 
graduated from The Gilman School in Baltimore. He was a 1968 graduate of the 
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he entered the 
USNavy as a LTJG and served at sea for two years. After a position at General 
Electric, Peter began his career as a stock broker in 1973. Serving many individual 
and institutional clients over the next 40 years, he was associated with investment 
firms including WhiteWeld, Wertheim, DLJ and most recently, RBC. Joan Bertino 
Juliano, his dedicated, capable administrative partner, worked with him throughout his 
entire career. Peter was Treasurer of the Whitehall Foundation, former Trustee of Sea 
Education Association, past Port Warden of the Independence Seaport Museum, Past 
President of the Radnor Educational Foundation, Past President of The Corinthian 
Historical Foundation, and former member of the Radnor Township Civil Service 
Commission. He was a member of The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia, the 
Cruising Club of America, the Mill Dam Club, and St. David's Golf Club. A Gibbons-Neff 
family tradition, sailing was Peter's life-long passion. His love of sailing developed in 
Little Egg Harbor, NJ as well as on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He raced in the 
biannual Newport-to-Bermuda Race 12 times, the Annapolis-to-Newport Race 10 
times, and raced trans-Atlantic from Bermuda to Copenhagen. Additionally, he cruised 
waters stretching from the Caribbean, to the Chesapeake, to Newfoundland. He was a 
Commodore of The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia and a Rear Commodore of 
the Cruising Club of America, Chesapeake Station. Peter conveyed a love of sailing to 
his entire family and to many young people including, most recently, the members of 
the Villanova University sailing team. He will be remembered most of all for his love of 
family, friends, country, and of course, sailing. A memorial service will be held on 
Saturday, January 26, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of St. David's Episcopal Church, 763
