Eileen Kay
POSTED: March 5, 2010
Eileen Kay (nee Abbott) died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in Anchorage,
Alaska, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Kay was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Robert Charles
Abbott and Mildred Jenny Sink. The Abbotts were very early settlers of Seneca County
and Pleasant Township. She graduated as valedictorian from Old Fort High School in
1943. In 1947, Eileen married the late Eugene Repp and together they had four
children. In 1973, she married Jack Kay and they lived happily until his death in 1988.
Eileen worked as a social worker in Seneca and Hamilton counties for more than 30
years. A tireless advocate for the mentally ill, she served as president of the Hamilton
County Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Eileen always loved a
good card game and enjoyed playing regularly at the Leonard Shore Club in Cincinnati.
She particularly enjoyed a good hand of Gin Rummy at her kitchen table with the late
Bob Armstrong.
Eileen lived life on her own terms and she left this world on her own terms. She will be
dearly missed by her family and friends. Eileen is survived by four children, Stephen
(Edith) Abbott Repp of Anchorage, Alaska, her daughter, Lynn A. Kenney of
Anchorage, Douglas A. (Jayne) Repp of Gibsonburg, and Thomas William Repp of
Mansfield; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her beloved sister,
Betty Dominique.
Besides her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene
Repp; her second husband, Jack Kay; her companion, Bob Armstrong; and her
beloved brother, Charles Abbott.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at T.P. White and Sons Funeral
Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, with visitation one hour prior.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, at Pleasant Union Cemetery
in Old Fort.
Memorials may be made to NAMI of Ohio or Hamilton County, the National Kidney
Foundation Serving Ohio or to a charity of the donor's choice.
