NICHOLS, John M. (1927 - 2010) Survived by his wife and best friend Jane Nichols; 
his eight children; his eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. John will be 
remembered as an environmental appraiser and guardian of open spaces and nature; a 
wonderful storyteller; a son of ''Lake Wobegon''; a compassionate, generous man; an 
advocate; an avid jogger, skier and mountain climber; a dear friend; and a companion 
to his faithful dog ''Zep''. A rosary and mass will be held on March 9, 2010, at St. 
Francis Church at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made c/o John 
Nichols, American Land Conservancy, 250 Montgomery St., Ste. 210, San Francisco, 
CA 94105.
