Passing of Sandy Shupard - Retiree and former employee of the Philosophy 
Department 
We are saddened to report the passing of Sylvia (Sandy) Shupard who worked for the 
Philosophy Department from 1975 through her retirement in 1999. Sandy was 71 and 
had been ill with cancer. Sandy was well liked and admired by everyone she worked 
with in the College of Arts and Sciences. Sandy is survived by her husband Ralph and 
by her two children, Linda Rollo and Ralph R. Shupard, IV. Funeral arrangements are 
private. Cards and acknowledgements to the family can be sent to: Ralph Shupard 
433 Kathmere Road Havertown, PA 19083. On the day of the annual Retiree 
Luncheon, we remember Sandy and extend our condolences to Ralph and his children 
on the passing of their wife and mom. May the light of Christ shine on Sandy and all 
who loved her.

Sylvia Sandy (Nee Hammond) of Havertown, Pa. On June 7, 2008. Beloved wife of 
Ralph R. Shupard, III. Loving mother of Linda Shupard (Peter R.) Rollo, and Ralph R. 
(Judith Anne) Shupard, IV. Grandmother of Mary Marguerite, and Christopher Raymond 
Shupard. Sister of George Hammond, and Eleanor Wiser.

Mrs. Shupard is a graduate of Sharon Hill High School. She was employed in the 
Philosophy Department at Villanova University for over 25 years. Mrs. Shupard and her 
husband, Ralph had their 50th wedding anniversary just recently.


Mrs. Shupard loved to work with the computer and she also loved to paint in her spare 
time. She had actually made a sale of some of her artwork. Sandy also was an avid 
sports fan, she especially loved the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey team.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Shupard's memory to benefit her 
grandchildren at The First National Bank of Chester County Attn: Pat Guinta 311 N. 
Five Points Rd. West Chester, Pa. 19380.
