per Pat Cordner (nicurn233@surfglobal.net) Joseph was a pioneer in
marine insurance business in Phila, dealt with Lloyds of London and
became quite wealthy. Passport applications indicate he crossed the
Atlantic frequently. The Lansdowne Ave house is gone. Frederick J.
Riley, whom I show as a boarder, married Marie and they live in
Joseph's house. Joseph and Marie were musically talented. Joseph left
his money to his son Arthur, to care for his siblings, but he chose not
to do that.
Joseph A O'Brien was president of Transportation Mutual Insurance co,
226 Walnut St, Phila. He was 2d vice president and treasurer of
American Shipbuilders and Shipowners Mutual Ins Co, 226 Walnut St.,
Phila. He was assocated with Charles E Mather.
