Grayce (Szabo) Cerino, of Guilford, formerly of Fairfield for 50 years, wife of the late
Joseph N. Cerino, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. She
was one of six children born in Bridgeport to Agnes and Frank Szabo on May 10,
1917. She would have celebrated her 94th birthday this month. Aside from being a
wonderful mother, she volunteered much of her time to her church, the First Hungarian
United Church of Christ in Bridgeport. There she served dutifully in the Women's Guild,
Golden Agers, Noodle Group, and choir. In addition, she worked in her husband's
store, Gemma Supermarket. She was a true perfectionist in sewing and cooking,
especially her Hungarian pastries. Survivors include her brother, Alex Szabo; and her
children Grayce (Ed) Perchaluk of Guilford, Joanne (David) Greenstein of Ormond
Beach, Florida, and Margie (Bob) Mingrone of Shelton. She was predeceased by her
son, Ronnie, and her siblings Margaret Marton, Esther Bachey, Joseph, and Frank.
She also leaves behind her 10 cherished grandchildren: Nancy (Ken) Creasy of
Lakeville, Massachusetts; Sandy (Tom) McKenna of Wallingford; Janice Wolf (Adam)
Lehman of Northford; Chris (Michelle) Cerino of Chestertown, Maryland; Todd (Karen)
Cerino of Sterling, Virginia; Justin Greenstein of Ormond Beach; and Samantha, Joe,
Tom and Valerie Mingrone of Shelton. In addition, she also leaves behind ten great-
grandchildren. Friends are invited to greet her family on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 9
a.m.until the time of service at 10 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post
Road, in Fairfield Center. Burial to follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. Her family
would prefer memorial contributions made to any of the following Boy Scout
organizations with a reference for Camperships: Housatonic Council BSA, 326 Derby
Avenue, Derby, CT 06418; Yankee Council BSA, 60 Wellington Road, Milford, CT
