Lila Speer Peters Lila Speer Peters, age 56, of Bridgeport, wife of Robert Peters, died 
unexpectedly Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in her home. She was born on August 28, 
1960, in Bridgeport, the 10th of 13 children of Thomas and Kathleen Speer. She was a 
1978 graduate of Central High School. She worked in retail management before 
focusing on her family. She was an avid fan of Motown music and the New York Mets. 
Lila will be remembered for her sharp wit, sarcastic sense of humor, gift of writing, 
hearty laugh and sparkling green eyes. She was one of a kind and will be deeply 
missed. She was predeceased by her father Thomas F. Speer; three brothers, William 
Speer, Thomas Speer and Kevin Speer and three sisters, Susan Speer Seganos, 
Diane Speer Farrell and infant sister Sharon Irene. Survivors include her devoted 
husband of 31 years, Bobby Peters; two loving daughters, Alyssa Peters of Bridgeport 
and Jenna Peters of Huntington, MA; her mother Kathleen Maloney Speer of 
Bridgeport; three brothers, Gregory Speer of Bridgeport, Christopher Speer of Stratford 
and James Speer of Trumbull; three sisters, Mary Speer of Trumbull, Sharon Speer of 
Queens, NY and Kathleen Tyler and husband Chris of Stratford; 19 nieces and 
nephews and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may greet the family 
Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport.
