Francis J. "Frank" Cirino Virginia Beach - We celebrate the long and amazing life of 
Senior Chief Builder Francis J. "Frank" Cirino, USN (Ret), 96, of Virginia Beach. He 
passed on Monday, May 23, 2016 in the arms of his adoring wife of nearly 75 years, 
Dorothy (Dottie). Born on November 7, 1919 in Wilmington, DE Frank was one of four 
sons and one daughter born to Francesco and Teresa Cirino who were Italian 
immigrants. The family moved to Philadelphia where his father opened a barbershop 
and Frank learned one of his many trades. Frank served in the Navy with distinction 
for 28 years as an engineman, an aviation machinist and a Seabee and was involved 
in three wars World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. For his second career, Frank was a 
facilities manager for the Navy Resale System where he worked for 20 years. Frank 
and Dottie were able to live in such places as Taiwan and Guam while witnessing 
many of mankind's greatest accomplishments. After retiring from the Navy Exchange 
System, you could find Frank out bowling, playing golf or taking Dottie out to dinner. 
Until late last fall Frank along with some of his closest friends and his son-in-law could 
be found playing nine holes at the crack of dawn on Fridays at Bow Creek Golf 
Course. This loving husband and father is survived by his wife, Dottie, his daughter 
Pattie and son-in-law Jack of Virginia Beach, Jack's sons John and Scott of Louisville 
and Scott's daughter Elizabeth of Noblesville, IN, his brother Ralph of Philadelphia, 
and his many nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., June 
3, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please send 
donations to the American Cancer Society, the Navy Memorial Foundation, or the 
CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation. Online condolences may be expressed at
