Dominic Calicura Craig
Dominic Calicura, 89, of Craig, died Sunday, Nov. 2, at Sandrock Ridge Care Center 
in Craig.
Dominic was born Sept. 21, 1919, to Angelina and Savario Colacurcio of Martinez, 
Calif. He was one of 17 children.
In the 1930s, he moved to Placerville, Calif., where he met Rosemary Hicks. They 
were married April 6, 1940.
In 1942, he and his brother, Frank, joined the U.S. Air Force. Dominic became a 
fighter pilot instructor of P40 and P51 aircraft.
After the war, he returned to Placerville, where he became a timer faller for Michigan 
California Lumber Co.
In 1965, he went to work for the city of Placerville as the public works director. He 
retired in 1983.
Dominic and his wife moved to Craig in 1994.
He enjoyed spending time with all of his family and was an avid outdoorsman.
Dominic is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Mike of Elk Grove, Calif., and 
Pat of Craig; three sisters, Virginia of Martinez, Marylou of Marysville, Calif., and Eddy 
of Indiana; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held Monday, Nov. 10, at Craig Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
