Michael Monte, 76, of Mount Laurel, a former vegetable and fruit farmer, died of heart 
disease Saturday at his home. 

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Monte lived almost all his life in Mount Laurel. He grew 
vegetables and fruits for 45 years at his farm, Lakeside Farm of Mount Laurel, until his 
retirement in 1982. He then became a real estate agent and worked for 15 years with 
Brick-Weichert Realtors of Medford before retiring again in 1997. 

Mr. Monte was a member and officer of the Moorestown, Pomona and New Jersey 
grange associations and was treasurer for 20 years of the state Vegetable Growers 
Association. He was also past president and director of the Cooperative Growers in 
Tabernacle and was a member of the New Jersey Agricultural Society and the New 
Jersey Horticulture Society. He was a member of the Burlington County Soil 
Conservation District, the New Jersey Farm Bureau, and the Mount Laurel Township 
Planning Board. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary A. Davison Monte; daughters, Judith A. 
Monte, Diann Miller, Shirley Mikuletzky and Debbie Callahan; a brother; two sisters, 
and a grandson. 

There will be a viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 
9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd. Mount Laurel. 
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of Good 
Counsel, 42 W. Main St., Moorestown. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 
Moorestown. 

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 U.S. 
Highway One, North Brunswick, N.J. 08902-4301.
