Joanne R. Szadeczky Joanne R. Szadeczky, age 67, of Shelton, peacefully entered 
into rest on Monday, December 11, 2017 in her home with her loving family by her 
side. She was the devoted wife of 46 years of Joseph Szadeczky. Joanne was born in 
Bridgeport on March 31, 1950, daughter of the late Anthony J. and Margaret (Vecchio) 
Rodia. She graduated from Bullard Havens HS in 1960. Joanne was a professional 
hairdresser and worked for the Riverview Funeral Home for over 25 years. She was 
also a devoted daily caregiver for three boys that she loved as her own for the past 18 
years. She loved attending antique car club events with her husband and going to 
Mohegan Sun and MGM Grand at Foxwoods. She was proud never to have pumped 
gas or ever get a moving violation. Family was the most important thing in her life, and 
she could always find a reason to celebrate with a few family members or many family 
and friends. She is the beloved mother of son Steven A. Szadeczky and his 
companion AnnMarie Williams and Olivia, and daughter Margaret I. (Szadeczky) Del-
Buono and her husband Andy and Timber. She also leaves her brother Carl M. Rodia 
and his wife Helen, sister Annette M (Rodia) Clift and her husband Nelson, nieces and 
nephews Becky, Cara, Natalie and her husband Seth, Nathan, and Nina, her great-
niece and nephew Leila and Robbie, and her extended family, the Haywoods, 
Pagliaros, and Bob Thelien. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral 
Home, 390 River Road, Shelton on Sunday from Noon to 2 p.m. At 2 p.m. a service to 
celebrate her incredible life will be held in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In 
lieu of flowers, Joanne wished everyone to do something special for a loved one.
