RODIA Carolyn L. "Casey" Rodia, beloved wife of age 56 years of Ralph J. Rodia,
passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at The Griffin Hospital with her
loving family surrounding her. Carolyn was born July 6, 1932 in Bridgeport, to the late
William and Leah Rauscher Casey. She graduated from Warren Harding High School,
class of 1950, and entered the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, but put her
career on hold to raise her family. Following the birth of her seventh child, Carolyn
returned to nursing in the LPN program at Bullard Havens Technical School and
graduated Valedictorian and President of the class of 1969. After working several
years at Saint Vincent's Medical Center, Carolyn owned and operated the former
Card'n Party Shop in Huntington Center for the next 10 years. Missing her nursing
career, Carolyn returned and discovered her true calling in geriatric care. While
working at Saint Joseph's Manor in Trumbull and Marion Heights in Monroe, Carolyn
and three co-workers decided to open their own adult day care center, Generation
Senior Day Care in Seymour, where she was President and Director until her retirement
in 2001. She will forever be remembered for her generosity, compassion and devotion
to her family, friends and clients. Besides her husband, Carolyn is survived by her 8
devoted children: Linda Dobrydney of Milford, Thomas Rodia and his wife Karen of
Stratford, Susan Melita and her husband John of Milford, Diane Carfo and her husband
Marc of Shelton, Eileen Rotunno and her husband, Jim of Seymour, John Rodia of
Shelton, Patti Cavallaro and her husband Keith of Seymour, Lorri Redding and her
husband Bill of Naugatuck, 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Carolyn
also leaves her sister Sharon Iannotti and husband, Jerry of Milford; several sisters-in-
laws, nieces and nephews, and her life long friends, Chester and Mary Bielecki of
Stratford. She was predeceased by her sister, Janet Michalek. Funeral services will
take place on Monday, June 23 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise
Green Place, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 500
Wigwam Lane Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Mountain
Meadows Cemetery in Seymour. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 pm. In lieu of
flowers, those wishing may donate to the American Cancer Society, the National
Shrine of Saint Jude, Saint Mark Church Stratford, or The Griffin Hospital. For more
