Josephine Rose Winnett

Born July 27, 1916, passed away peacefully February 21, 2013, at Northwest Hospital 
in the presence of family. 

Josephine lived in the Seattle area most of her life. She initially grew up at the Sacred 
Heart Villa on 50th Street and later spent 50 years in her house in Seattle's 
Wallingford neighborhood. She met the love of her life, Oscar, in San Diego while 
working at a soda shop and he was in the Navy. They also lived in San Francisco, 
Bremerton and Honolulu Hawaii. She was a civilian survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941 
attack of Pearl Harbor. Josephine loved to play bingo. For many years you could find 
her walking from her house to the Wallingford Boys & Girls Club to play. She also 
enjoyed trips to Reno with family. She was very active and a life-long member of the 
Wallingford Senior Center.

Josephine is proceeded in death by her husband, Oscar in 1972. She is survived by 
her children, David and Rosalie, her grandchildren, Teresa, Todd, Toni, Travis, 
Kristina, Tiffany and Anthony, her 11 great-grandchildren and 

1 great, great-grandchild.

A friends and family celebration of Josephine's life will be held Saturday, March 2nd at 
1pm at the Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, WA 98155.
