EDWARD JOSEPH PREJEAN JR., DDS, LT. COL. RET. USAF
of Kerrville, Texas, died at home on July 31, 2009.

He was born in Gretna, La. on Nov. 20, 1918 to Maude Thoede Prejean and Edward 
Prejean Sr. Growing up in Gretna, he attended Gretna High School, then LSU studying 
engineering, leaving school to enter the Army Air Corps before WWII. During the war 
he flew anti-submarine patrols in the Carribean for which he received the Air Medal. 
E.J. served as an instructor pilot in B-17's and he concluded the war flying C-47's with 
MATS. 

After the war, he graduated from dental school at Loyola University in New Orleans. 
Re-entering the Army he served as a dentist during the Korean War. At that time he 
met and married Anne Donio of Hammonton, N.J. an Army nurse. After marrying in 
Korea on Feb. 4, 1951 they returned to Gretna where he engaged in the private 
practice of dentistry. Subsequently, he re-entered the service, this time the Air Force. 

He retired to Kerrville in 1977 after 34 years of military service. Col. Prejean pursued 
interests in ranching, antiques, railroad trains and genealogy writing a book about his 
Cajun ancestors. 

A funeral mass for Col Prejean will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 9:30 
a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Graveside services with military honors will be 
held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, 
TX. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to:
