BARONY of BASSET (of Drayton) (I)

RALPH BASSET, son and heir, served in the French ai-id Scottish wars. He 
succeeded his father 4 August 1265. He held lands of Ralph Basset of Weldon 
1284/5; he was summoned to attend the King at Shrewsbury, 28 June 1283 and was 
summoned to Parlliament 23 June 1295 to 10 April 1299I, by writs directed Radulfo 
Basset de Drayton, whereby he is held to have become LORD BASSET OF DRAYTON. 
) He married Hawise. He died 31 December 1299, and was buried at Drayton.
