1851 census has a John O'Brien living in Manchester, age 72, b Ireland, wife Judith, 
age 52, children John 19, Julia 17, Margaret 13. Gerrard could be out of the house by 
then (see note under his entry). This is speculation.

confirmed in marr certif GJ OBrien AM Wainhouse (in files)
says he is a Jacquard gaiter (unsure what is, google search turns up 3 hits, all occs in 
records from Lancashire)
