ROBERT DE STAFFORD, son and heir. Between 1138 and 1147 he notified the 
bishops of Worcester and Chester of his gift of his chapel of Stafford to Stone Priory; 
in 1155 he was an arbitrator, and was sheriff of co. Stafford, retaining the office until 
1160. In 1166 he returned his Carta, and in 1167-8 he accounted for the aid for the 
marriage of the King's daughter from his 60 knights. He last appears in the Pipe Rolls 
in 1177-78, and probably died between that date and 1184-85. He married Avice, and 
was buried at Stone with his wife. [Complete Peerage XII/1:169, (transcribed by Dave

Robert de Stafford, who was sheriff of Staffordshire from the 2nd to the end of the 6th 
year, inclusive, of King Henry II's reign [1156-1161], and in the six years afterwards 
paid towards the marriage portion of the king's dau. 60 marks for 60 knights' fees. 
This Robert performed a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and d. about the year 1176, and was
