Founded Priory at Hagneby, Cheshire, England.
------------------------
(b) Herbert de Orreby, son of Alard, was Constable to Gilbert de Gant, Earl of Lincoln,
and to his son-in-law, Simon de St. Liz, Earl of Northampton, after Simon's marriage to
the Countess Alice, daughter and heir of Earl Gilbert; and it was presumably by the
service of constable that he held Orby (in which place he granted land to the monks
of Bardney), of the two Earls successively, as did his son John, after him, of Gilbert de
Gant II.
(c) Proof has not been found that Philip was one of the younger sons--probably the
2nd--of Herbert, son of Alard, by Agnes his wife, daughter of Simon FitzWilliam (of
Kyme), named probably after her brother Philip de Kyme, but there is a strong
presumption that it was the fact.
