According to Richard Borthwick, VCH Yorks indicates that Helen's ancestors were 
Norse instead of Norman.

Her second husband is definitely a Valoines/Veteriponte, but there is a question about 
which generation it is.

According to 2 sources in soc.genealogy.medieval, Helen m. Alan de Valoines, father 
of Robert de Valoines according to Malinda; or Helen m. Robert de Veteriponte (a 
name the Valognes were known by (BUT not necessarily this line which is different 
from the Valognes)), who is presumably the son Alan. I have followed Malinda.
