Richard de Sutton; born 29 Sep 1266; married Isobel (living 1289/90), daughter and 
heir of William Patrick by Beatrice, daughter and coheir of David de Malpas. [Burke's 
Peerage]

Note: Burke's Peerage has Richard's immediate ancestors "of Worksop, Notts", while 
Ancestral Roots has Richard "of Warsop, Notts". Both places are in Nottingham, but I 
think he was of one or the other, not both. Magna Carta Ancestry states "of 
Worksop"; so it agrees with BP. CP states "of Warsop", so I think AR got its info from 
CP.

The following entry from A2A, Staffordshire Records Office, made by Richard's son 
John proves that John's father was dead by 1318, and his mother Isabel a fair time 
before that.

[from Scope and Content] John de Suttun Kt son of the Lord Rd. de Suttun Kt. Sends 
greeting. Know that clone my father granted the Manor of Yeton under Lime (see C1) 
which he of late held by the courtesy of England as from the death of Isabella, at one 
time his wife and my mother, whose heir I am, to Robert Suttun his brother and my 
uncle for the life of my father, as in writing made by him to my brother more plainly 
appears. I the said John, to whom the said manor reverts by right after my father's 
death grant it to my said Uncle Robert and his heirs for ever and hereby quitclaim 
thereto. Warranty for ever.

NOTE: A 2nd entry, dated 1338/9, is made by Robert, son of Robert de Sutton, Kt, 
concerning the land at Yeton; so Yeton descended in that branch of the family (if 
there were further offspring).
