SIR LUKE DE POYNINGS, son and heir, presumably of age in September 1252, was a 
knight in January 1265/6. On 25 January 1272/3 he quitclaimed to Lewes Priory all 
right in the church of Pyecombe (Sussex). He married, before 18 November 1276, 
Hawise, widow of Reynold DF VAUTORT, of Harberton, Devon. Sir Luke appears to 
have been living in July 1293, but to have died before 8 June 1294. His widow died 
shortly before 24 October 1299. [Complete Peerage X:658-9, (transcribed by Dave

(a) In June 1294 Michael de Poninges was summoned among a number of barons to a 
parley with the King. Sir Luke left a younger son, Sir Thomas, who tilted, with his 
brother, at the Stepney tournament 1307/8.
