All of the records show him as son of Hugh who married Maud Beaumont. This is a 
tough stretch per the dates. It mean she was born, not in 1414 but in 1390 or earlier, 
which makes him quite old at the Battle (but he would not be the first 75-year old at a 
battle). But then his mother is rather old when he is born. Is there a missing 
generation? 1620 Visitation confirms that he married Margaret Carminow
