David le Clerc de Malpas, JP (Cheshire); Sheriff of Cheshire 1252; held three knight's
fees in Cheshire, his 2nd son [Philip]. [Burke's Peerage]
--------------------------------------------
David de Malpas, called David le Clerk, was Justice of Chester 34th Henry II, 1188.
Three different references assign to each a different wife, but most likely he married
Catherine, daughter of Owen Vaughan, Lord of Melior. He may have been married
three times. He had William, eldest son, who died without legitimate issue, and left his
brother Philip Gogh, surnamed de Egerton, as his legal heir.
