Bert C. Slater Bert C. Slater, 76 of Everett passed away on September 2, 2006. He 
was born in Wenatchee, Washington, on June 23, 1930. Bert spent much of his life in 
Everett, graduating from Everett High School in 1948. He is survived by his wife, Toni; 
sons, Chris (Michone) Rob, and Steve; as well as daughters, Coleen, Laurie, and Jan; 
cousin, Lee (Barbara) Brevik; sister, Louise; and seven grandchildren. Bert was 
preceded in death by his mother, Ragna Slater; and brothers, Cal and Lyle Slater. 
Over his life, Bert was well known for being a math teacher and coach at Everett High 
School for 26 years. He also was a carpenter and good friend to many. After retiring 
as a math teacher, Bert enjoyed helping his grandson, Tony, with his own math 
problems. One of the joys of his life was coaching, having coached the Seagulls at 
football and track. Bert enjoyed reminding his family that he was the first person to 
score a touchdown at the Everett Memorial Stadium. Bert also loved to watch sports, 
as his daughter Coleen, played basketball for Everett High, and during the fall, he 
loved traveling to see his son, Chris, play football at the University of Idaho. Many will 
also remember him for the help he provided in carpentry, as he would dedicate hours 
to help family and friends. Those who were fortunate enough to get to spend time with 
Bert, were witnesses to his frequent joking and self deprecating sense of humor. Bert 
loved to have a good time. We will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at 
10 a.m, Thursday, September 14, 2006, at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 2501 
Hoyt Avenue, Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EHS Blue and 
Gold Inc. PO Box 1194 Everett, WA 98206.
