Joan Marie Scaringi Summers, 46, of Danville, died Thursday at home after a long 
illness. 

Formerly of Christiana and Phoenixville, she lived in Danville seven years. 

She was a graduate of Octorara High School and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic 
Church, Danville. 

A U.S. Army veteran, she served in the 1980s. 

She was a member of the American Legion, Post 601, Sonestown. 

Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of Doris Allison Scaringi Ulisny of Muncy 
Valley and the late Thomas Scaringi. 

Surviving besides her mother are two daughters, Dawn Marie Nelligan of Spring City 
and Shelly Lyn of Paradise; six grandchildren; and four brothers, Daniel T. Scaringi of 
Downingtown, Barry M. Scaringi of Reamstown, Robert J. Scaringi of Lionville and 
Thomas Scaringi of Phoenixville. 

She was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Evelyn Allison Piergrossi; and 
a stepfather, Robert E. Ulisny.
