NORTH BROOKFIELD Paul W. "Pete" Spence, Jr., 68, of 22 Winter St., died 
Saturday, November 3, 2007, in his residence. 

 He leaves his wife, Patricia "Gail" (DeMoranville) Spence; two sons, David of North 
Brookfield and Bennett Spence in Japan, serving in the US Navy; three daughters, 
Kelle Spence Bond of Brewster, NY, Melissa Soto of Westfield and Kathleen Spence 
of Hudson, NH; three brothers, Keith "Butch" Spence, Sr. and Richard Spence, both 
of Brookfield and William Spence of Sturbridge; four sisters, Sally Mead of Palmer, 
Barbara Nase of Derry, NH, Janice Byrer of Morgantown, W.VA and Dr. Ruth-Ann 
Spence of Liberty, ME and five grandchildren. He was born in Cambridge, the son of 
Paul W. Sr. and Ruth (Bennett) Spence and lived most of his life in Brookfield, before 
moving to North Brookfield three years ago. Paul worked many years at the Paul 
Revere Insurance Co. and later he worked part-time for the Worcester Airport 
Limousine Co. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was also a volunteer for the Special 
Olympics. Pete was a well known sports enthusiast throughout Worcester County. He 
was a Baseball and Softball Umpire and was a referee for both Basketball and 
Football. 

 The funeral for Pete will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in 
the East Brookfield Baptist Church, 262 Main St., East Brookfield. Burial will follow 
with Military Honors in Brookfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 
3:00- 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 
East Brookfield Baptist Church, 262 Main St., East Brookfield, MA 01515 or to Ever 
Care Hospice, 850 Winter St., Suite 3800, Waltham, MA 02451. Pillsbury Funeral 
Home, Rte. 9, Old West Brookfield Rd., Brookfield is directing arrangements.
